Unfortunately nobody listened to the copy before sending it out. We were surprised because we made a perfect replication of the CD-R we had received (log files proved it), but the original CD-R from the band had been damaged and probably broker's drive made those errors during reading of the master without knowing them about the errors and then the burning were successful. The copy was perfectly burned with no errors or any problems so we processed it, but the band then claimed crackles and drop-outs. I remember several cases where a broker company (a middle man) made a copy of band's CD-Audio master and sent the copy to our plant. It can create even less problems than working with a second/third generation copy (burned CD-R discs) sometimes.

There should be no problem accepting properly created CUE+BIN+CDT or CUE+WAV files exported from any good audio editor or any audio mastering software (or EAC). GRYes, the DDP format is a professional way to send masters to a plant, but the other ways can be also acceptable if the plant can process them. Yes, and avoiding all of those issues is exactly why DDP was developed. I can recommend PlexTools, Exact Audio Copy (EAC), ImgBurn with the necessary verify step, the old CD DAE application for WAV extraction (by Erik Deppe, archived here: CD DAE homepage). ImgBurn can do that) or rip the disc twice to two images, compare/null them and make a listening test. So ALWAYS use the verify function if possible (e.g. I was able to create NRG, CUE+BIN, UIF and many others CD-Audio images from my scratched test disc without any read-error warnings resulting in drop-outs, crackles etc. WARNING!
